Faux Deer Decor ♥

I love faux deer heads. They really add that punch to a room and I'd love to get one for my study. The sky blue walls would look amazing next to white resin. However, decorating with this type of piece can be tricky. It takes the right kind of mix to keep it fresh and modern, otherwise you get something more along the lines of this: Ok, maybe that's extreme, but anyhoo - here's a little inspiration for those of you who love faux deer decor but don't know how to incorporate it into your own setting. I particularly like the deer silhouettes and the ornate circular frames placed around them. You can also take that extra step and place pretty wallpaper underneath. Below are some great ideas for faux deer decor, and some good places to get one for yourself. (Photo credits below

Indoor/Outdoor Furniture, Lighting & Accessories by Blue Nature

To me, there's nothing better than mixing modern design with natural elements. It's like getting the best of both worlds, and I love to see companies that specialize in that sort of thing. I stumbled upon Blue Nature, and I'm lovin the natural elements they use to create their furniture and accessories. In particular, the candle holders, frames made of wood and stone, the forest like partition, and pretty much their whole line of lighting. See more at Blue Nature, it's not one to miss.

Meet Your Blogger..

This post is more of a test as I got a Droid the other day and thought I'd try out the new Blogger app. This self portait is brought to you by Retro Camera, a really awesome app I found on the Android Market. If you have the phone yourself, I highly recommend it. Hope you all are having a lovely day! Until tomorrow.. :)

Silk Road in Las Vegas by Karim Rashid

One of my favorite designers, Karim Rashid, has worked his magic again. This time, the Silk Road Restaurant in Las Vegas. I want to ask Mr. Rashid to come design my house. Think that would be pricey?

Shabby Chic, Rachel Ashwell & An All New Blog!

I've been on a serious romantic/shabby chic kick here lately, and I think it has to do with getting (back) in touch with my feminine side. There's something about saving something from the trash and making it into art that appeals to me as well. The shabby chic look is all about pretty colors, weathered pieces, and textured art, and the good thing about this style is that you don't have to spend a fortune. My thrifty side is rejoicing..

As for my style, for the majority it's consisted of clean lined, modern pieces, but I've always liked the softer, more romantic styles of shabby chic as well (Thank you Rachel Aschwell) So in lieu of adding such a girly genre to Style Niche, I decided to make a blog all it's own. Take a look at Pretty Vintage Home for more gorgeous, girly, luxe inspiration. It's about all things pretty, romantic, shabby chic and vintage without going overly frou frou.

Anyhoo, here's a taste of what you'll see over at the new blog:

Vintage Style

Although I'll always love modern, clean, even masculine design, there's something about romantic, feminine style that's just as appealing. As I was browsing Elle Decor's website, I came across Seeing Design, a design blog that had some nice articles about the softer side of design. Here are a few photos courtesy of Anne Collins.

Flea market finds..

These lamps and that vintage rose picture in the background is a must have..gorgeous.

Cozy, bright and feminine decor..

Loving these owls bookends. Makes me wanna go thrifting..
